Katharine wins first place in Short Story Contest
Katharine is the first place winner of the 2023 Short Story Contest of the International Conference of the Short Story in English. Her submission, “Last Train to Banff,” is a great read and you can access it by clicking here.
The International Conference on the Short Story in English was first launched in 1988 in Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris, by the Society for the Study of the Short Story in English (SSSS) as a colloquium that has grown in stature and gained prominence over the years.
“Last Train to Banff” will appear in Katharine’s collection of short stories, Men, Women, Birds. The ten stories contain themes that explore love, loss, and longing. The characters are different in each story but the common thread woven throughout the collection is the presence of wild birds. (Fully one-third of all Americans consider themselves birdwatchers.)
Katharine is the founding member of the Spirited Scriveners, a group of writers working in diverse genres.
